Michel Leiris - ”Le point cardinal” - 1927

Voice' dreams

After being an actor at the age of 15, Catherine Jauniaux started her vocal career in the early 80s
with Aksak Maboul and Des Airs (published by the famous label Crammed discs
beside Fred Frith, Chris Cutler, Marc Hollander and other figures of the avant-garde of that period.

She had her first album "Fluvial" with the english experimental artist Tim Hodgkinson (from Henry Cow)
before to join New-York downtown scene in the 90s
where she used to collaborate with the famous cello player Tom Cora
as well with Marc Ribot, Christian Marclay, David Moss,
Zeena Parkins, Ikue Mori and many other figures of this period.

"With stunning ease, she invents imaginary conversations where several protagonists spring from deep in her throat,
like rabbits out of a hat, like actors from Japanese Noh theatre."

Comin back in south of France in the late 90s, she played with ErikM, Carole Rieussec, Jean François Pauvros, Sophie Agnel, Phil Minton, Ted Milton, and many others...

solo at L'espace en cours - 11/09/2016

---
These last months, she is an active member of "Le Grand 8"
an improvisation orchestra located in Marseille.

and last week, she performed in a trio
with the saxophone player François Wong and the trombone player Olivier Bost,
for an amazing concert.
