A travers une vingtaine d'essais de musicologues, critiques et historiens de l'art, et d'entretiens avec Phill Niblock, directeur de la fondation "Experimental Intermedia", cet excellent ouvrage offre un panorama des activités, depuis les années 1960, de l'artiste-musicien new-yorkais, compositeur majeur du courant minimaliste américain et artiste multimédia.

Throats

 

"Throats" is the last opus (january 2022) of David Watson, the New-Zealander musician who spent years as part of the experimental community in New-York, playin bagpipes and guitar. David Watson is part of the trio "Glacial" with Lee Ranaldo and Tony Buck. And in "Throats" he had  collaborations with avant-garde vocalists Shelley Hirsch (vocal) and Koichi Makigami (jew's harp and vocal).

David Watson has a deep personal interest in processions and parades and has created new works for this form of music with bagpipes. As an experimental musician, he is drawn to combinations of order and disorder.

The french cello player Stéphane Clor’s work is a perpetual round-trip between music explorations and art experiments. He considers space a resonant body which he makes to vibrate with minimalist instrumental compositions, as well as with installations using fine vibrating elements such as a quivering of a dry leaf or a surface’s resonance.

Clara de Asís est une compositrice et guitariste d'origine espagnole basée à Marseille en France.
Son travail expérimental est principalement articulé autour de l'écoute,
des micro tonalités et du (presque) silence.

Ses performances sonores et concerts dans lesquels elle utilise guitares acoustiques et électriques, et aussi de simples installations génératrices de fréquences,
lui permettent de créer de longues pièces nous invitant à une écoute active.
Proche des univers sonores de Pauline Oliveros, Phill Niblock ou d'Eliane Radigue,
Clara brouille les cartes entre la stricte composition et l'improvisation,
 et nous convie à l'exploration de la tonalité et du timbre de sa musique,
tout autant qu'à  l'introspection et à la quiétude.

Clara de Asís is a Spanish composer and guitarist located in Marseille, France.
Her experimental work is mainly articulated around the listening, the micro-tonality and the silence.
Her sound performances in which she uses acoustic and electric guitars, and also devices  generating simple frequencies, allow her to create long pieces inviting us to an active listening.
Not far away from the sound universes of Pauline Oliveros, Phill Niblock or Eliane Radigue, Clara shuffles the cards between strict composition and improvisation, and invites us to explore the tone of her music, as well introspection and quietness.

Anna Thorvaldsdóttir is an Icelandic composer whose music is composed as much by sounds and nuances as by harmonies and lyrical material.

The duo PACE (One) is composed by Cédrick Eymenier & Palix.

The artist Cedrick Eymenier is a part of the band "Cats Hats Gowns", as well his main work is visual with pictures and the famous movies' serie of "Platform" .

In 2006, PACE (One) published a work called "Chroniques Turinoises" for an art show curated by "Purple" magazine at French Institute in Torino - Italy. 

For a live concert at Purple Institute in Paris in december 2004,

they played bass guitar and an electric vietnamese Dan Bau.

Gruidés

     "gruidés"  5 first minutes' score

L'ensemble ONCEIM, composé d'une trentaine de musiciens improvisateurs, a exécuté la création "Gruidés" que Stephen O'Malley , fondateur de Sunn O))), a composé pour eux.

Une représentation de cette oeuvre a eu lieu à l'église Saint Merry à Paris, il y a quelques jours, dans le cadre des Rendez-vous Contemporains.
Une pièce de 35 minutes, lente, majestueuse et appelant à la méditation, superbe.

"... The eight chapters of  "L'Écoute Virtuose / Virtuos Listening" are demarcated by images of the surface activity of water, both the water imagery and titling  foreshadowed in the 2006 film. Prosaic is content to allow her portrait of Radigue to be limned via the conventions of such documentaries: archival footage, anecdotes, interviews and performances. She trusts the subject to be sufficiently compelling without the superfluous and self-conscious filmic gestures that irritate the viewer in less confident filmmakers.  The imagery is distilled down to water and the mirror-mind experience of hearing Radigue's music. The listening experience is filmed chiefly during the staggering Triptych concert series, an event honoring Radigue's work held June 12-26, 2011 at various venues around London. Of the eight concerts comprising that event, Prosaic focuses on performances by, and interviews with, Rhodri Davies, Bruno Martinez, Carol Robinson, Charles Curtis, Kaffe Matthews, Kaspar T. Toeplitz, Ryoko Akama, and Emmanuel Holterbach..."
