Sophie Agnel: Song

Après une formation classique et une initiation au monde du jazz, la pianiste Sophie Agnel s’est progressivement engagée sur les terrains mouvants et délicieusement incertains de l’improvisation libre en retravaillant les techniques de piano préparé imaginées par John Cage dans le champ de la musique contemporaine.  Sophie Agnel va alors s’appliquer à transformer son instrument en une sorte de "prep-piano extensif" ou "piano étendu" posant ainsi les fondations d’un univers tour à tour lyrique, abstrait et sensualiste. Il lui  faut alors accepter que le clavier n’en soit qu’une partie émergée... et le monde qui s’ouvre est infini.

Attirée par la musique concrète et électro-acoustique ainsi que par les phénomènes de spatialisation du son, Sophie Agnel a par ailleurs conçu dernièrement avec l’aide du Centre National de la Création Musicale d’Albi – Tarn (GMEA) et du luthier Laurent Paquier, un instrument électro-acoustique expérimental, le “nOpianO /cordophone”, s'ouvrant ainsi  de nouveaux horizons sonores.

After classical training and an introduction to the world of jazz, pianist Sophie Agnel gradually entered the delightfully uncertain terrain of free improvisation by reworking the prepared piano techniques imagined by John Cage. Sophie Agnel then set about transforming her instrument into a sort of "extensive prep-piano" or "extended piano", thus laying the foundations of a universe that is alternately lyrical, abstract and sensualist. She then had to accept that the keyboard was only an emerging part of it... and the world that opened up was astounding.

Attracted by concrete and electro-acoustic music as well as by the phenomena of spatialization of sound, Sophie Agnel has also recently designed, with the help of the National Center for Musical Creation of Albi  (GMEA) and the luthier Laurent Paquier, an experimental electro-acoustic instrument, the “nOpianO /chordophone”, thus opening up new sound horizons. 

 

Son dernier opus nommé "SONG" est construit comme une sorte de livre à chapitres qui se déploie de façons très variées. Sa forme et son écriture est comme un parcours labyrinthique qui peut être emprunté par elle seule ou par plusieurs autres musiciens ou artistes.

 

Her latest opus called "SONG" is constructed as a kind of chapter book that unfolds in very varied ways. Its form and writing is like a labyrinthine path that can be taken by her alone or by several other musicians or artists.

Sans oublier le CONCERT solo de Sophie Agnel le 19 mars 2025 aux Instants Chavirés à l'occasion de la sortie officielle de "SONG" le 28 mars. Une autre artiste, la remarquable violoniste Clara Lévy, nous offrira également son propre solo dans cette même soirée. A ne pas manquer !
