Nuova Consonanza, also titled Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza is an association of contemporary italian composers founded in Rome between 1959 and 1962 on the initiative of Mario Bertoncini, Mauro Bortolotti, Antonio De Blasio, Franco Evangelisti, Domenico Guaccero, Egisto Macchi and Daniele Paris.
This group with variable geometry hosted lots of other composers to promote contemporary and avant-garde music in Italy by organizing festivals, conventions, conferences, music competitions and concert activities.
Among others invited composers, there was Walter Branchi, John Heineman, Roland Kayn, Ennio Morricone, Ivan Vandor and Frederic Rzewski.
