Does Spring Hide Its Joy
Kali Malone’s new album "Does Spring Hide Its Joy" as a triple LP is now on Ideologic Organ
"Does Spring Hide Its Joy" is an immersive piece featuring Stephen O’Malley on electric guitar, Lucy Railton on cello,
and Malone herself on tuned sine wave oscillators. The music is a study
in harmonics and non-linear composition with a heightened focus on just
intonation and beating interference patterns. Malone’s experience with
pipe organ tuning, harmonic theory, and long durational composition
provide prominent points of departure for this work. Her nuanced
minimalism unfolds an astonishing depth of focus and opens up
contemplative spaces in the listener’s attention.

On Another Timbre, 7 chamber works for low strings & marimba by the young Florence-based composer Marco Baldini. Three of the pieces are derived from works by 16th century Italian composers: 'Corteccia' - Francesco Corteccia, 'Volta' - Luca Marenzio, 'Animuccia' - Giovanni Animuccia. The other pieces are original compositions by Marco Baldini, but their powerful, foreboding soundworld is clearly influenced by early music. With Niccolò Curradi & Michele Lanzini, cellos, Maurizio Costantini & Amedeo Verniani, double basses, Francesco Toninelli, marimba & Luisa Santacesaria, conductor.

Tintinnabulation
"Tintinnabulation" is a work by Marcus Vergette, a sculptor and composer based in the UK. Much of his recent work involves bells. The title track "Tintinnabulation" explores the idea of a world with birds, and a world without birds, playing with the interaction between the bells and birdsong. Vergette’s creative practice is rooted in the duality of being both a sculptor and musician. One of Marcus Vergette’s core principles is democratising art, working extensively in creating public sculptures. Alongside his sculpting, Vergette is also an active freelancer as a jazz bassist, performing regularly throughout the UK.
