LKJ & Jayne

 

In the mid-60s, the Afro-American poet, activist, small press publisher and spoken-word performance artist Jayne Cortez (1934-2012) began writing poetry about music and musicians in the tradition of African praise poetry.

Linton Kwesi-Johnson, born in 1952, is one of the most significant Jamaican poet, joining the english Black Panther movement in 1970, organizing poetry workshops in England and working with Rasta Love, a group of poets and percussionists. He published numerous books mainly political, and many records where his dub poetry contributes to his success.
