RR by James Benning

My favorite industrial symphony is this James Benning's movie "RR"

"RR" is a deep meditative trip, despite you don't travel with these trains which cross the screen: the travel is an audio and hypnotic one.



James Benning, born in 1942, is an independent filmmaker from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Over the course of his 40-year career Benning has made over twenty-five feature-length films. He employed diverse methods, themes, structures, and aesthetics, investigating narrative and anti-narrative modes, personal history, race, collective memory, place, industry, and landscape.

His philosophy of "landscapes as a function of time", so they reveal history, from the specifics of his own autobiography and forays-with-camera to the whole bitter chronicle of American colonial and industrial conquest, class struggle, violence and ecological ravages.
He said : “All my films are an attempt to ask, how liberated am I? Where did I come from? How am I progressing?”

Of course, the original "RR" movie is in a better quality than this capture... but...
