Julius Eastman

Julius Eastman was an African-American composer, vocalist in the area of minimalism.

A complete edition of his works was done by Mary Jane Leach

He conducted a musical score, "The holy presence of Joan d'Arc" for 10 celli,
which was paired posthumously with the silent movie of Carl Theodor Dreyer (1928).
The piece was originally written for a dance performance choreographed
by Andrew de Groat and was performed at the Kitchen in New York.

  1. To be totally correct, his music was paired with the Dreiser film posthumously - the piece was originally written for a dance performance choreographed by Andrew de Groat.

Also, I don't have his complete works on my web site, only as much as is currently available. Anyone else who has a score, please contact me.
